Join us for a tour of our site in West Sacramento and learn about the latest progress on our Washington House cohousing community. This is a chance to visit the neighborhood, see how close we are to the Sacramento River, Raley Field, Old Sacramento and the Crocker Art Museum.
Afterward, we will have an optional walk to the Crocker for refreshments and informal discussion. Wear warm clothes and your walking shoes.

Join us for a presentation and discussion of the many benefits of cohousing, including creating community, supporting good health, providing walkability, and building environmental sustainability. Find out how individual homes in the community will be designed, what they're expected to cost, and how to get involved in the creative process.
Come get your questions answered. Alex Kelter and Anne Geraghty are the conveners for the Washington House Cohousing Community that's being created in West Sacramento. Alex is a retired Public Health Physician and the Chair of the ECOS Land Use Committee. Anne founded WALKSacramento and worked previously as a transportation air quality planner for the California Air Resources Board. Anne and Alex will share their personal perspectives on creating this exciting new community.
Light refreshments will be served. Come early to get a seat.

Come join our field trip to visit Wolf Creek Lodge in Grass Valley. Wolf Creek Lodge Senior Cohousing completed in 2012 received the Governor’s Environmental Leadership Award. The Lodge includes 30 homes. We will tour the lodge and fix lunch for our hosts, giving us a mini-opportunity to work together to create a “food event."
We plan to meet at 10:00 am to carpool to Grass Valley. What we learn will inform us as we begin the design process in the New Year. This is a great opportunity to learn from a wonderful cohousing community!

We invite you to join with us to meet Chris Dougherty, Transportation Planner with the City of West Sacramento. Chris will be giving us an overview of the transportation improvements planned for the Washington Neighborhood, including pedestrian, bicycle, transit and parking. Chris oversees West Sacramento’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Program. He also does transit planning and manages the City’s parking assets.
We will meet at noon for lunch and conversation.

Field Trip to Bay Area Cohousing Saturday, December 10th Meet at 8am in West Sacramento to carpool Come join our field trip to visit three three successful urban core cohousing communities: Doyle Street Cohousing in Emeryville, and Swan's Market and Phoenix Commons in Oakland. We'll meet at 8:00am at the park & ride on West Capitol Avenue just east of the on-ramp to Hwy 80 at the Yolo Bypass. We plan to stop for lunch and dinner in the vicinity of these communities, giving us the opportunity to discuss what we've learned and get to know each as well. What we learn will inform us as we begin the design process in the New Year. This is a great opportunity to learn from other urban communities! Fall Workshops
We will hold two facilitated workshops to guide our next steps. The first will define and clarify our vision and our values as a community moving forward. The second will be a "Nitty Gritty" how-to workshop, focusing in on the many aspects of the development process including planning, budgeting, architectural design and working with developers.

If you have been considering cohousing as an option and Sacramento as a location, NOW is the time to get involved! Participants in the early stages of the project will play an important role in determining the nature of the features of the project and what elements will be included. Additionally, early members will have first pick of the housing units. These two workshops, for member households, will begin this exciting creating process.
